Aviation law governs the operation of aircraft and the maintenance of aviation facilities. Both federal and state governments have enacted statutes and created administrative agencies to regulate air traffic. Using its constitutional authority to regulate interstate and foreign commerce, Congress may enact laws pertaining to air navigation. There have been several federal enactments along these lines: The first was the 1926 Air Commerce Act which provided, among other things, for the certification and registration of aircraft employed in interstate or foreign commerce. The statute was amended in 1938 by the Civil Aeronautics Act which created the "Civil Aeronautics Authority," a five member panel with the power to regulate all aspects of aviation within federal jurisdiction. Later, the five-member panel was changed to the "Civil Aeronautics Board" and most of its power was transferred to the Department of Commerce.

  • Choosing a Lawyer
  • Should you choose a large lawyer or a small lawyer:
The size of a law firm has no relation to how well your case will be taken up. A large law firm may seem well staffed and having a great office, but what you must see is whether they will take out enough time and effort towards your case. Large firms receive large cases that would figure above smaller cases in their priority list. A law firm with over 10 lawyers on its rolls can be considered a large firm.

  • Get full clarity on the fee structure:
Lawyers may charge you for every action they take while defending you or representing you in court. This could amount to hundreds of dollars an hour. While choosing your lawyer, keep in mind that you must discuss the fees in detail so that there are no hidden costs to be discovered later. The fee will greatly depend upon the nature of your case, and whether the lawyer is comfortable with it therefore the details must be ascertained before hand in black and white.
