Twenty-five percent of felony defendants in 2000 had an active criminal justice status at the time of the current charged offense, including 14% who were on probation, 13% on pretrial release, and 6% on parole.

While choosing your lawyer, keep in mind that you must discuss the fees in detail so that there are no hidden costs to be discovered later. The fee will greatly depend upon the nature of your case, and whether the lawyer is comfortable with it therefore the details must be ascertained before hand in black and white.
